The most well-known studio host in the show history is Ron MacLean. He hosted the show from 1987 to 2014 and again in 2016 Rogers Media announced that MacLean would host the playoff games again. 

MacLean served as the main sportscaster for the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He received the Best Host or Interviewer in a Sports Program or Sportscast award In 2004 and 2006. 

Also, he was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

The Canadian anchor for Sportsnet David Amber joined Hockey Night in 2014 as an analyst. He has been covering hockey for over 20 years and is a well-known reporter.

After George Stroumboulopoulos left Hockey Night in 2016, he took over as the studio host. Amber filled in on Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey in 2022 as Caroline Cameron covered the Winter Olympics.

He became Monday Night Hockey's primary studio host for the 2022–23 NHL season.

Four nights a week, during regional intermissions, Caroline Cameron hosted 'Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey' and the pre-game show Hockey Central Tonight.

In February 2018, Cameron was host and play-by-play announcer for Sportsnet's coverage of the Davis Cup match between Canada and Croatia.

One of the most well-known personalities on the show is Elliotte Friedman who has covered hockey as a seasoned reporter for over 20 years.

He regularly participates in the gameday panel on CBC. In 1998, he served as a play-by-play for Toronto Raptors games broadcast on radio and television and game coverage for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Elliotte was honored with the Best Sports Reporting Gemini Award for covering Hockey's Heritage Classic.

Jeniffer Botterill works as a studio analyst for Sportsnet and Hockey broadcasts in Canada. She is a former hockey player. 

The former National Hockey League ice hockey goaltender Kelly Hurdey was an analyst with Sportsnet for Hockey Night in Canada.

Hrudey started working for Sportsnet full-time in August 2014 to participate in their hockey coverage. Along with Rick Ball, Hrudey appeared once a week on TSN 1040 in Vancouver.

Rogers Media signed Colby Armstrong as an analyst for Sportsnet's full national coverage of the NFL starting with the 2015-15 season. He has also worked as a Pittsburgh Penguins game commentator for the AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh post-game broadcast team since 2016.

Craig Simpson is one of the most well-known commentators on Hockey Night. He is a former NHL player and after retiring from hockey, Simpson joined Fox Television as a color commentator.

For the 2008-09 season, he along with Jim Hughson led the show broadcast crew and call the Stanley Cup Finals. 

Garry Galley is a former ice-hockey player and a color commentator on the show since 2008. He also co-hosted the 'More On Sports' radio show on Ottawa, Ontario's The Team 1200.

Greg Millen started as a color analyst for the Ottawa Senators' television matches. He started working on the CBC in the 1995-96 season.

Millen returned to HNIC in 1999-2000 as the color commentator of the network's secondary broadcast crew after spending a year with CTV Sportsnet.

Cassie Campbell-Pascall has been a commentator on CBC since 2006, and she has covered numerous Olympic events, World Championships, and NHL playoffs.

Leah Hextall is Sportsnet's first female play-by-play announcer for an NHL game. She debuted her television play-by-play while announcing a quartet of Canadian Women's Hockey League games.

Also, she is the first woman to call the NCAA men's Ice Hockey Championship game.

John Shorthouse is a Canadian sports broadcaster and play-by-play announcer for the show since 2005. Starting in 2014, he had a limited network assignment on Sportsnet when Rogers purchased the national television rights to the NHL in Canada. 

Jack Michaels made a national broadcast appearance in November 2021, commentating on two Oilers games for the show.

Harnarayan Singh made his name for Hockey Night in Canada's Punjabi-language broadcasts. He now announces English-language games for Sportsnet as well. In 2021, Singh earned the Best Sports Play-by-Play prize at the 9th Canadian Screen Awards.

As a rinkside reporter on NHL on Sportsnet or Hockeyt Night in Canada broadcasts, Dan Murphy graduated from MEI secondary in Abbotsford in 1988.

He became a reporter for Sportsnet in November 1999. Then he hosted NBA broadcasts for the Vancouver Grizzlies on Sportsnet and VTV in the 2000–01 season before switching to Canucks telecasts the following year.

Additionally, Sean Reynolds has established himself as a well-known sideline reporter in hockey. He has spent years providing direct research and commentary to Hockey Night.
