Walker Kessler parents are Chad Kessler and Andrea Kessler. Chad is a board certified surgeon at Georgia Bone and Joint.
Kessler has athletic genes from his family full of athletes, which is one of the reasons, he chose the same career. He currently plays for the NBA team Utah Jazz after being the twenty-second overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NBL Draft.
Walker started his basketball career at Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia. Born on April 23, 1965, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Chad is a former college basketball player. He is 57 years old as of 2022.
The Los Angeles Clippers picked him in the first round of the 1987 NBA Draft. He only played as a rookie for the University of Georgia from 1984 to 1987, as per Basketball Reference.
Chad was honored with a special commendation and the University of Georgia President Award by the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. He was originally enrolled at the university to obtain a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Still, he postponed his medical school enrollment to follow his dream of playing basketball for a year.
Even though he could not play basketball for long, he still graduated with a degree in medicine from the University. He is currently on the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the National Board of Medical Examiners, and the National Board of Orthopaedics certified surgeon.
Andrea seems to be a private person as she does not frequently appear in front of the camera. She has been supporting her son from behind the scene and is one of the pillars of his current success in basketball.
Chad and Andrea were really worried when Walker was about to make his university basketball debut. Walker got scholarship offers from Auburn, Duke, Michigan, Gonzaga, and North Carolina. He eventually chose North Carolina but still, Chad and Andrea just wanted to be sure about where to send their kid to college.
Walker Kessler Comes From The Family Of Basketball Players
Walker Kessler future was already decided as he comes from a family of basketball players.
Walker's father Chad Kessler played college-level basketball at Georgia before being picked by Los Angeles Clippers. Similarly, Houston Kessler, Walker’s brother was also involved in college-level basketball for the University of Georgia from 2013 to 2017.
Again, Walker’s uncle, the late Alec Kessler, played for Georgia and was later drafted by the National Basketball League team Houston in the NBL Draft 1990.
When Walker was about to play college basketball, Chad was not sure whether he was ready or needed another year to perform. But a family friend, Coach Williams had faith in Walker and his ability.
Andrea was perplexed when it came to choosing a college for her son. She would go to one college and think about enrolling her son there but she would get the same feeling after visiting another college.
However, Walker made the decision to join North Carolina Tar Heels, which even surprised his parents at first as reported by 247sports. But, they later followed his decision and enrolled him in North Carolina. He did wonders at college-level basketball and later got drafted to play in the NBA.
Thanks to that, Walker signed a rookie contract with the Utah Jazz on July 9, 2022.
