The MLB All-Star Game has 32 players on the roster. The roster must include at least one player from each team with 20 position players and 12 pitchers.

The players are selected on a voting basis for the starters. The fans cast their vote in two phases. Firstly, the fans cast their vote on a full slate of players and pick their favorite players at each position.

The same method is followed for both leagues and the top vote-getters are given the starting spot and are exempted from Phase 2.

The starting spot for each position is selected through Phase 2. The fans once again vote from the two finalists for each position. The winner of the voting is awarded the starting spot.

The Commissioner's Office and the player ballot select the remaining spots for the reserves and the pitchers in a joint effort.
