Madden NFL 25 release date prediction is set for 16 August 2024. The game will also feature its Superstar mode (career mode) as one of its major selling points.

The latest iteration of the game which was released a couple of months ago has somewhat of a mixed review. Madden 24 does have some new features and animations but is almost identical to the previous editions with little creativity.

The game series only takes a year before coming up with the next edition. It is a short period of time to actually come up with a completely new dimension or add anything extraordinary to the existing game.

In reality, it is very much needed or the Madden series will soon be looking to shut down. IGN mentioned in its review that the game feels the same and lacks progress.

Another major setback of the game was the unwanted long loading time, especially in the game's most important component, the Ultimate Team. A simple menu takes such a long time to load.

EA and its developers have a decision to make. Do they want to just copy and paste the same game with a new branding and earn their part of the revenue or do they want to actually give the fans their best work? They should probably invest more time and money to accomplish the latter goal.

When Does The New Madden Come Out?

Source : twitter

Based on the previous launch dates of the video game series, the new Madden game is most likely to come out around 16 August 2024. It falls on a Friday.

EA usually launches the NFL game series on the third Friday of August. They did so for the previous three editions.

  • Madden NFL 24 - August 18
  • Madden NFL 23 - August 19
  • Madden NFL 22 - August 20

Madden NFL 21 was released on the fourth Friday of the month on August 28 and Madden NFL 20 was released on August 2, which was the first Friday.

The next edition of the American Football video game will be released in August as September is occupied with the annual launch of the soccer game series EA FC previously known as the FIFA franchise series.

Madden NFL 25 was released in 2013 in celebration of the game series' 25th anniversary. EA has another decision to make with the title of the new edition set to come out in 2024.

Madden 25 New Features

Madden 25 new features could give players the liberty to create their own unique plays or have their own playbook to play with. It would be a major update.

The Madden NFL franchise series occasionally comes up with exciting and new features but is somewhat similar to previous editions. EA lacks creativity when it comes to coming up with new ideas, and we have seen that in the editions of FIFA as well.

Sometimes it feels like the previous edition (Madden 23) has been rebranded with little to no changes as the new edition (Madden 24).

The latest edition did have a few pros to its name as well. For instance, it has better and improved visuals, the gameplay has become more realistic, and the shapes and sizes of the real players have been portrayed much better.

Let us take a peek into the pros of Madden NFL 24 before moving on to the expected new features for the next series.

  • Franchise Mode saw a lot of changes and the best one was that you can include more than three players per team in a trade.
  • Training camps have been added to the Franchise Mode integrated with mini-games.
  • An interesting trade system has been implemented with doubled trade slots and extra draft picks.
  • Improved FieldSENSE resulted in new tackle animations.
  • The cross-play feature was smooth and easy to access.
  • AI blocking has been much better than in previous editions.

The game is not completely bad but the publishers and the developers need to take a little longer between releases so that they can come up with a much better game.

The game is good but could be a lot better and without taking out the time, making a few changes, and trying something new, the series will soon come to an end.

Even the ratings for the video game are not so good. Metacritic has rated Madden NFL 24 65/100 (PS5) and 61/100 (Xbox Series X|S).

  • Game Informer - 6.75/10
  • IGN - 6/10
  • VideoGamer.com - 8/10
  • GameSpot - 5/10
  • GamesRadar+ - 2 stars/5
  • Hardcore Gamer - 4/5

New features in Madden 25

Some of the aspects that EA could look into and add a few changes in the upcoming game are:

  • Playmaking Mechanics (advanced)
  • Franchise Mode

Playmaking Mechanics (advanced)

The playbooks that the game offers are based on real-life plays and boast a solid set from which we can choose. What if we could create our own plays or make our own run routes?

This could take the game to the next level and we as players would have a great deal of control over our gameplays. We could make our own unique routes and plays for both attack and defense.

We would be in full control of the game and would not have to just rely on the given playbooks. It would also be a morale boost for us players.

Franchise Mode

The game mode has seen a lot of changes. In fact, it has had the most changes made and many new features have been added this year.

Relocation was one of the features that was interesting in Madden NFL 24 with 34 cities available for relocation. You can relocate to any of those cities with new team branding and stadiums.

It would be a bigger upgrade to the game if players were given the liberty to start from zero. It would be more fun and challenging to start a franchise in a new city with a new team name, an empty roster and players had to build an entire team by picking out free agents, rookies, and prospects.

This way we would be able to compete with the best and embark on a completely different journey altogether. It sure would be difficult as some games could be a mismatch but would surely add a lot of thrill.

Madden 25 Player Ratings

Source : twitter

Patrick Mahomes was the highest-rated QB in Madden NFL 24 and will most likely have the same 99 OVR rating in the next edition as well. He has become the new Tom Brady of the game series.

The projected Madden 25 player ratings are:

Patrick Mahomes99 OVR
Justin Jefferson99 OVR
Tyreek Hill99 OVR
Travis Kelce99 OVR
Zack Martin98 OVR
Christian McCaffrey98 OVR
Davante Adams97 OVR
Mark Andrews95 OVR
Josh Allen95 OVR
Joe Burrow93 OVR

Jefferson is the best WR heading into 2023 and he will be holding the position for a while. His plays have been great and will surely be the highest-rated player in that position next season as well. Tyreek Hill will either be on the same level or only down by a single rating.

When it comes to EA ratings, big names are equal to big ratings. Travis Kelce, Christian McCaffrey, cover athlete Josh Allen, Aaron Donald, and Davante Adams are some of the big names in the NFL and will have high ratings in Madden NFL 25 as well.

Does Madden 25 Have A Story Mode?

Source : twitter

Yes. Madden NFL 25 will surely return with its Superstar Mode which made its comeback in Madden 24. This game option is the story mode in the video game series.

The Superstar mode or the story mode was part of the Madden games in the past but was later discontinued. After fans requested for this feature to be brought back, the mode returned to the latest version of the game.

Madden story mode starts with the NFL Combine just in real life and you fight your way to the very top and become the best with a 99 overall rating.

The match performances will also be graded which will help boost your overall growth and popularity. The only drawback of the story mode was that the path toward stardom was joyless.

Developers Tiburon could make the mode more alive and interesting so that we players would want to play it for a longer period.

A new storyline could be added to come up with a creative side to the mode similar to FIFA 17's "The Journey". An in-built world where the custom player would be free to do whatever we want and all actions and choices would affect the player's growth would make the game more realistic.

Madden fans do not want to see the same old story mode in the upcoming edition. It has always been the same and it is high time that EA comes up with better plans to compete in the market.
