Whenever we talk about the NFL and the player's position, the quarterback is the most commonly talked about position. They also happen to be the most famous.

NFL quarterbacks 2023 by team will have a few notable changes especially with veteran Aaron Rodgers leaving the Packers after 18 seasons starting from 2005.

The 2023-24 season is just around the corner and we fans can not wait enough for the start of the games and watch our favorite QBs in action. There will be many new faces and some old faces in new uniforms.

Patrick Mahomes is the leader in the list of starting NFL QBs.  He is a two-time Super Bowl champion, 2x Super Bowl MVP, and 2x NFL MVP.

He played college football representing the Texas Tech Red Raiders and is the joint record holder for the single-game yards passing at 734. He had a great season last time out winning the Super Bowl and individual honors.

Josh Allen - Bills

Josh Allen was a starter last season and will be a starter for many years. He is one of the best QBs in the league and will only improve with time given he is only 27. He was the 7th overall pick in 2018.

Allen is among the top-tier in terms of NFL QBs. Apart from being a great passer, his running game can not go unnoticed. He has earned the Pro Bowl honors twice in 2020 and 2022.

Joe Burrows was the 1st overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020 and was tipped to become one of the best QBs in the league. He is among the best in the league as of now. 

In his rookie season, he was injured, and after returning the following season, he was up and running, earning him the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award.

Aaron Rodgers joining the New York Jets will lead to NFL roster changes as he makes his way to the team as a starter. Although 39, he is still among the best.

The record holder for the most consecutive passes without an interception set at 402 passes will be seen in a different attire and team after he was traded by the Packers.

The 23-year-old has made a promising start to his NFL career and will keep on getting better. He is certainly living up to the expectations as he was considered one of the biggest prospects.

Lamar Jackson - Ravens

Lamar Jackson is the 2019 NFL passing TD leader and is the current starting NFL quarterbacks for the Baltimore Ravens. He is among the best in the league as of now. 

He was named the 2019 NFL MVP and is a two-time Pro Bowl player. In his rookie season, he started seven games and won six of them. He recently signed a five-year contract that will earn him $52 million per year making him the highest paid.

Jalen Hurts was the 53rd overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. The 2022 Pro Bowl player helped his team reach the Super Bowl and earned him a second-place finish in the MVP voting.

He too recently signed a new five-year deal that would earn him $50 million a year, making him the second highest-paid player.

Deshaun Watson - Browns

Watson signed with the Browns in 2022 which was worth $230 million (guaranteed) after he was traded by the Texans. He has the skills to become one of the best in the NFL if his off-field behavior is on point.

He has only played 6 games in the last two seasons due to suspension. If he is on the roster and fully fit, no doubt that he will be starting games and helping the team reach new heights.

Russell Wilson - Broncos

Russell Wilson is the first choice in the Broncos' NFL quarterbacks depth chart for the upcoming season. The veteran is among the best dual-threat QBs.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he was the 75th overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2012. the 34-year-old signed with the Broncos in September 2022 and has a 4-11 record as a starter.

Colt McCoy - Cardinals

Colt McCoy will be the starter for the Cardinals for the most part of the regular season as the first-choice QB Kyler Murray will be sitting out due to a torn ACL injury. 

He has been with the Cardinals since 2021 and has started in six games with a 3-3 record as a starter. Although usually used as a backup QB, the 36-year-old is an experienced player and the perfect replacement for Murray.

Matthew Stafford - Rams

He is another veteran who will be the starting QB in the 2023 season. He was the 1st overall pick by the Detroit Lions in 2009 and has played for the Lions for over a decade. 

Stafford signed with the Rams in 2021 and started all the games with a 12-5 record and went on to win the Super Bowl the same year. He only played 9 games in 2022 as he suffered a back injury.

Justin Fields - Bears

Justin Fields made a slow start in the NFL as he did not make the best of stars as a rookie. He only managed 1,870 yards in 2021, completing only 58.9%.

He hasn't had a breakout season in his two years and the 2022 season was a much better season for him. He had 8 rushing TDs and 1,143 rushing yards. With the Bears improving in the offensive unit, he will have a much better season.

Kirk Cousins - Vikings

The No. 8 has been in the NFL since 2012 after he was selected by the Washington Redskins as the 102nd pick. He had a slow start to his career with only 9 starts in 14 games. His record was 2-7 in the first three seasons. 

Since 2015, he has been a regular starter and the 2018 season saw his best completion ratio with 70.1% passes completed. His passes were intercepted 14 times in 2022, a worrying factor for the starter.

Prescott holds the record for the highest passer rating by a QB as a rookie which was 104.9 in 2016. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys as the 135th overall pick and has been faithful to date.

He has been a starter for the Cowboys since he was signed and has a good record when it comes to throwing TDs when in form. The 2022 season was not the best as he recorded 15 interceptions.

Derek Carr - Saints

Derek Carr was the 36th overall pick in 2014 selected by the Oakland Raiders. He played collegiate football for Fresno State and ended his college career with a pass completion rate of 66.7%.

Carr is 4x Pro Bowl player and on March 6, 2023, he signed with the New Orleans Saints. The contract's duration is four years worth $150 million.

Jared Goff - Lions

Jared Goff was the 1st overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2016 and was traded to the Detroit Lions in exchange for departing QB Matthew Stafford in 2021. He was the starter since the beginning and reached a career-high of 4,688 passing yards in 2018. 

Goff had a good 2022 season in terms of his passing game with 29 TD passes and only 7 interceptions. He did not record any rushing TDs.

Daniel Jones - Giants

Daniel Jones was selected by the New York Giants as the 6th overall pick in 2019 and has been an active player on the roster ever since. He is a graduate of Duke University.

In the 54 games he has played, only once was he not named a starter. The 2022 season saw him achieve his highest passer rating which was 92.5 and also his highest passing yards which was 3,205.

Tua Tagovailoa - Dolphins

Tagovailoa has been a regular starter for the Dolphins in his three seasons and will continue to do so. He has not been named as a starter only twice in his career.

He was expected to be the 1st overall pick but due to his injury, he was selected as the 5th by the Dolphins in 2020. The left-handed QB had a passer rating of 105.5 last season and was the NFL passer rating leader.

Ryan Tannehill - Titans

The Texas A&M graduate was drafted in 2012 by the Dolphins and stayed with them till 2018. He was then traded to the Titans in 2019 on a year-long deal.

He has been a starter since day one with his best passing yards record coming in 2015 when he had 4,208 yards. He threw a career-high 33 TDs in 2020. This may be the last season he will be a starter as the Titans have drafted Will Levis.

Jimmy Garoppolo - Raiders

Although he is only 31, he is a veteran in the league having already completed nine seasons that have won him two Super Bowl rings. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2014.

Garopopolo signed a three-year contract with the Raiders in March 2023 and will be replacing Derek Carr as the starter. He had a 7-3 record as a starter with a 103.0 passer rating in 2022.

Geno Smith - Seahawks

The second-round pick by the Jets in 2013, Smith started all the games in his rookie season. He did not have the greatest of seasons as he threw 21 interceptions and only managed to 12 TD.

Since signing with the Seahawks in 2019, he featured in just five games till the end of the 2021 season. The 32-year-old's breakout season was in 2022 when he threw 4,282 yards and 30 TDs. He had a 69.8% completion rate and was the league leader.

Bryce Young - Panthers

Bryce Young is the 1st overall in the 2023 NFL Draft and is among the best prospect among young quarterbacks in the NFL to become future greats.

Young was rated as a five-star recruit and he proved himself as one. He recorded 8,356 passing yards in his collegiate career. The Panthers were in search of someone like Young and they found one.

He is regarded as one of the top prospects and will definitely be a starter for the Panthers at least at the beginning of the season. If groomed properly, he is a star in the making.

The second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans is C.J. Stroud. The 21-year-old has had an outstanding college career as he replaced Justin Fields. 

He has recorded 8,123 passing yards in his three college seasons and only played three games in his first year. He still had two more years of college but decided to enter the NFL Draft which turned out to be the best decision.

Anthony Richardson - Colts

The most athletic QB in the NFL Combine in the league's history, Anthony Richardson was the 4th overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2023.

He decided to enter the Draft instead of playing in the Las Vegas Bowl. He started all 12 games in the 2022 season for the Gators and recorded 2,549 passing yards and threw 17 TDs. He also recorded 9 rushing TDs in 2022.

Mac Jones - Patriots

Mac Jones has been a starter for the Patriots since he was drafted by them in 2021. He has started every game and has had a decent career so far given he will turn 25 just before the season opener. 

With Bil O'Brian set to take on the duties of the offensive coordinator and directly work with Jones, he will be looking to bring the best out of Jones in the upcoming season.

Brock Purdy - 49ers

The 23-year-old was picked in round seven of the 2022 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Purdy came into the NFL after a successful collegiate career with the Iowa State Cyclones after having recorded 12,170 passing yards in 46 outings as a starter out of a total of 48 games.

He has had a decent start to his NFL career having played 9 games and starting 5 of them with a perfect win record as a starter. The 2023 season will surely see more of him.

Kenny Pickett - Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers picked Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft after ending a stellar college career for the Pittsburgh Panthers. He threw 42 TDs in his last season with just 7 interceptions.

He started 12 games out of 13 for the Steelers and will probably start all the games in 2023. He still has time to develop his game and will likely be seen during his second year.

Jordan Love - Packers

Jordan Love will surely be among the starting QBs in NFL after the departure of Aaron Rodgers and will fill in the vacant spot for the 2023 season.

He has only played 10 games in his NFL career and only started once, that too in 2021. He will be going into 2023 with a strong offensive line and will surely get a lot of game time.

Desmond Ridder - Falcons

The round-three pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2022, Ridder has not had much game time. The former Bearcats' QB had an amazing college career and in the 2022 NFL Draft, he was rated as the fourth-best quarterback.

Ridder was initially a backup for Marcus Mariota and later in the season was chosen as a starter. He played four and started all of them and made it clear that he will not let go of the spot so easily.

Sam Howell - Commanders

Sam Howell will be going on to his second season in 2023. The 22-year-old was a round-five pick by the Washington Commanders. He was expected to be an early pick due to his excellent college career.

He had amassed 10,283 passing yards and threw 92 TDs with just 23 interceptions. He ended his college career with 1,009 rushing yards and 11 rushing TDs. 

As the Commanders were out of contention to qualify for the playoffs, he was given a chance to start the last game of the season.

Baker Mayfield - Buccaneers

The 1st overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns spent four seasons as the starting QB. In March 2023, Mayfield signed with the Buccaneers on a one-year contract. 

He has been a regular starter for the teams he's played for and will most likely be the starter in 2023 as well. Kyle Trask will be fighting for the spot as well.
