Timberwolves play by play announcer is Michael Grady who took on the role in August 2022. Grady will team up with analyst Jim Peterson for Bally Sports North.

Grady has replaced long-time announcer Dave Benz who served as the Minnesota Timberwolves' lead voice for a decade. He was not retained as the announcer and was let go in May 2022.

No one expected the departure of Benz who had formed a commendable partnership with Peterson. Benz felt heartbroken and sad when he was informed about the decision.

Michael Grady

Michael Grady took charge as the play-by-play announcer for the NBA side and completed his first full season in the 2022-2023 season.

The Timberwolves announcers team is led by Grady who previously spent five years on YES Network with the Brooklyn Nets and the Yankees.

In his five years with the network, he has gained quite an experience. He served as a sideline reporter, hosted pregame and postgame shows, and also was a part-time play-by-play announcer.

He is an all-arounder when it comes to broadcasting as he is not limited to only calling the Timberwolves games.

Apart from his announcing duties, Grady also represents the team on many platforms. That being, team events, team contents, and more.

Grady started his broadcasting career in 2003 after joining 1070 WIBC Radio in Indianapolis. In his career, he has called games for NBATV and Turner Sports, WNBA Commissioners Cup, WNBA and College Basketball games for CBS, and also as a sideline reporter for select NFL games.

Jim Peterson

Peterson returns as the color analyst for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season. The former power forward/center will provide viewers with all the analysis and breakdown games.

With his experience as both a player and also being the former associate head coach of the Minnesota Lynx, Peterson brings in a lot of expertise and will be a perfect partner for Grady.
