Most home runs hit in Home Run Derby in one round is 41 by Julio Rodríguez. J-Rod set a new record in the 2023 First Round at T-Mobile Park.

The previous record for the single-round home run scored was held by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays with 40 homers in 2019.

Julio Rodriguez put on a fantastic performance to light up T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, with his blistering hitting but sadly could not win the Derby.

J-Rod and Guerrero Jr. are the only players to have broken the 40 homers mark in a single round and the 80 home runs mark in a single edition of the Home Run Derby.

Legendary hitter Pete Alonso is the only player that has come closer to the 80 home runs mark. Even without breaking records, he has won the Derby twice.

The single-elimination bracket had three rounds in total and eight batters are selected from both the leagues. The participants are allotted three minutes to score as many homers as they can in the first two rounds.

The Final Round will allow the players only two minutes and if the rounds end in a tie, it progresses to a 60-second tiebreaker. If the scores are still tied, the round goes to a swing-off (three swings each).
