Past Winners at Dover International Speedway include Alex Bowman, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon. Busch won the 2017 Apache Warrior 400 race.

Dover International Speedway, also Dover Motor Speedway, is one of the most classic tracks in NASCAR history. Coined as the "Monster Mile" because of its one-mile concrete oval length with high banking that has challenged drivers for over 50 years.

Since the track's birth in 1969, many legendary drivers have taken the checkered flag at Dover, making it one of the most prestigious victories on the NASCAR circuit. 

The Speedway hosts three major racing events, NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and ARCA Menards Series East.

Chase Elliott - 2022

Chase Elliott won the 2022 DuraMAX Drydene 400 held at Dover Motor Speedway. Elliot has 18 victories in 261 career races in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The DuraMAX Drydene 400 lasted two days on May 1 and May 2 in 2022. Chase began in the number 9 position with his Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and went all the way to win the tournament.

Kyle Busch led the most laps but lost the lead after a caution was called during a green-flag pit stop. Eventually, Elliott emerged in the first position, followed by Kyle Larson and Ross Chastain in the final lap. 

Besides, the 27-year-old tasted NASCAR victory at Dover International Speedway in 2018 when he finished first at the Gander Outdoors 400. 

Alex Bowman - 2021

Alex Bowman splendid victory in 2021 NASCAR placed him on the list of winners at Dover Speedway. Bowman pulled a top-spot finish at Drydene 400 in Round 13. 

Popular by his nickname, "Bowman the Showman", Alex has a total of 7 wins at the NASCAR Cup Series in his career, which spans over nine years. After his first win at the 2019 Camping World 400, he went on a winning spree displaying his potential.

In the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series, Bowman achieved his second win of the season after he miraculously came in the lead leaving behind Kyle Larson, who dominated the most laps. He drove Chevrolet in the starting position of 48 and won the cup with 51 points. 

Denny Hamlin - 2020

Denny Hamlin is the co-owner of 23XI Racing who recorded a sweet victory at the Wurth 400. Hamlin won the race with 60 points, ten more than his successor.

Held on August 23, 2020, at Dover International Speedway track, the Florida native achieved a commanding victory by claiming all of the stage wins and leading the most laps.

He regained the lead from his teammate Martin Truex Jr. in the final laps, ultimately securing his sixth triumph of the season. The Toyota racer began the race in 11th position, with the first pole given to Chase Elliott.

In his two-decade-long racing carer, Denny Hamlin has partaken in more than 600 races in the NASCAR Cup Series and has secured 48 wins, the most recent being the 2022 Coca-Cola 600.

Martin Truex Jr. - 2019

Martin Truex Jr. has also made the chart of past winners Dover International Speedway. Truex won the 2019 Gander RV 400 for Joe Gibbs Racing Team. 

On May 6, 2016, at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware, Chase Elliott seized control of the race from his starting position in the pole, captivating the audience with his superb driving and leading most of the laps.

The race was scheduled for May 5, but Dover International Speedway weather had a different plan. It was postponed to the day later because of the heaving pouring.

Despite leading most laps, Elliott and Alex Bowman were sidelined by the No. 19 Toyota Camry driver Martin, who took the lead in the second stage and remained on top for the rest of the race to seal the victory.

Kyle Larson - 2019

Kyle Larson has cemented his legacy as the Dover Motor Speedway past winner. Larson earned a crucial victory at NASCAR Drydene 400 in 2019.

The 30-year-old Chip Ganassi Racing member started in the number 2 pole behind Denny Hamlin and won the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Round of 12 on October 6, 2019.

Held at Dover Downs International, Larson, with his Chevrolet 42, recorded 57 points, closely followed by Truex Jr at 54 points. 

In a stunning turn of events at Drydene 400, Kyle Larson overtook the previously dominant Denny Hamlin and fended off Martin Truex Jr. to claim his first triumph since 2017 and advance to the next round of the Playoffs.

Kevin Harvick - 2018

Among other past winners Dover International Speedway is Kevin Harvick. Harvick has had 60 wins throughout his 23 years NASCAR Cup series career.

His most contemporary victory was the 2022 Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway. Kevin, who started strong in Round 11 of AAA 400 Drive for Autism maintained his supremacy until the end to win the race.

Harvick succeeded in the early two stages and surpassed Clint Bowyer, who was in the leading position to grab his second triumph at Dover after the 2015 Wurth 400 race.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race began on May 6, 2018, with Larson in the starting pole. However, Harvick exhibited his racing prowess, propelling his Ford Mustang to a remarkable 60 points and clinching the win.

Jimmie Johnson - 2017

Chevrolet racing driver Jimmie Johnson won the 2017 Wurth 400 at Dover International Speedway. It was Johnson's 11 victories at Dover.

In the race commanded by Truex Jr. and Larson, Jimmie came out as an underdog and surprised all the NASCAR fans at the stadium after he took the lead from Larson in overtime.

The AAA 400 Drive For Autism occurred on January 4, 2017, at Dover. Johnson despite hitting the wall, made a comeback to lead the race. He started at number 4 in the pole and reached 55 points, five more than the runner-up K. Larson. 

Furthermore, Johnson is one of the Richest F1 Drivers, with 20 years of racing experience in the NASCAR Cup Series, and boasts an impressive 83 wins to his name.

Kyle Busch - 2017

Kyle Busch won the 2017 Apache Warrior 400 race from the starting position of 2 at Dover International Speedway on October 1, 2017.

Though Elliott maintained a commanding lead for 138 laps towards the end of the race, Busch's exceptional skill and tenacity enabled him to surge ahead in the final two laps and clinch the victory.

The Las Vegas native stock car racer, who had a commanding triumph with the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, missed the opportunity to win at Dover in the Wurth 400 in June of that year.

Additionally, the 38-year-old Busch has 62 wins in the NASCAR Cup Series, with two first-place finishes in 2015 and 2019.

Matt Kenseth - 2016

Matt Kenseth drove his Toyota Camry to a thumping win at the 2016 Wurth 400 race. Kenseth beat Kyle Larson in the tight neck battle to finish first.

At the Dover International Speedway on May 15, 2016, the former stock racer Kenseth secured the first major tournament win of the season.

With so many favored names like K. Harvick, Larson, Truex Jr., and Jimmie Johnson fighting for the win, Kenseth, with his two-decade-long experience, emerged on the lead out of all odds and eventually won the race.

As the race drew to a close, Kenseth and Larson engaged in a tense and thrilling battle for the lead, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats, but Kenseth was successful in barring Larson at the dying moment.

Jeff Gordon - 2014

Jeff Gordon won the 2014 AAA 400 driving the No 24 Chevrolet for Rick Hendrick. Gordon had 93 career wins in the NASCAR Cup in his 25 years of racing,

The 5 feet 8 inches tall veteran came first in the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup at Dover International Speedway scheduled on September 28, 2014.

Gordan, from the number 6 pole, led 94 out of the 400 laps with 47 points and crossed the finish line ahead of runner-up Ford's Brad Keselowski, who had 43 points, with Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano, and Matt Kenseth securing 3rd, 4th, and 5th place respectively.

The decorated stock car racer from California announced his retirement in January 2015, waving goodbye to his illustrious career.
