Sofia Kenin parents Alexander and Svetlana Kenin raised her in South Florida. Alexander and Svetlana are from Russia and moved to New York in 1980.

Kenin has been interested in tennis since she was a youngster, and her father was the one who tutored and trained her to thrive in the sport. Her dad has always been there for her through thick and thin.

Similarly, Kenin's early tennis achievements drew extensive notice in the tennis community and landed her on the covers of tennis magazines.

She rose to No. 2 in the world as a junior after conquering the Orange Bowl at the age of 16 and was runner-up in the 2015 US Open girls' singles tournament the following year.

Additionally, she became the youngest American to achieve a major women's singles championship since Serena Williams in 1999 with her success at the 2020 Australian Open.

Sofia Kenin parents Alexander and Svetlana Kenin moved to the United States after her birth. They left the Soviet Union to start a new life in New York City.  

When the family initially arrived in the United States, they had just $286 in their pocket. The New York Times said they had spent years applying for exit permits before landing in New York City in 1987 with "$286" after stops in Austria and Italy.

In addition, Sofia was born on November 14, 1998, in Moscow. Alex stated that the family returned to Russia for Kenin's birth so other family members could initially help raise her.

Her Mother Svetlana Kenin

Kenin mother Svetlana also known as Lena worked as a qualified nurse in the Soviet Union. Svetlana currently resides in Miami, Florida.  

Her mom is active on Facebook, where she has shared multiple photographs of her family, including her husband and kids. Similarly, several of the images depict Sofia's younger days, along with the trophies she earned in tennis competitions.

Well, Lena doesn't like to watch her daughter's matches, as she gets so nervous that she finds it hard to watch her play.

Sofia Kenin Was Coached By Father Alex

Kenin father Alexander is a native of Russia. Alexander studied computer programming during the day and drove for a car service at night.

Besides, she grew up mostly under the tutelage of her self-taught father in the professional tennis incubator that is South Florida. Kenin began playing tennis at the age of five, inspired by her father, who had previously played recreationally.

Her parents spotted her ability and set up a training session with Rick Macci in Broward County, Florida. Macci coached Kenin until she was 12 years old, although her primary coach had always been her father until May 2021.

According to tennis.com, she decided to stop training with him during the clay season. It tends to be the most successful event of a tough season when she advances to the fourth round of the French Open.

Kenin family is originally from Russia but currently lives in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The former Australian Open champion was raised with a sister.

Her sister Anya Kenin is 18 years old, and she voted for the first time during a 2022 United States election on November 8, as per Lena's Facebook page.

Furthermore, her personal Facebook profile has few posts, but in one of them, she is seen with a guy, who is assumed to be her boyfriend, while snapping mirror selfies.

On the other hand, Sofia, who is six years older than her sister, was in a relationship with her former coach and ex-boyfriend, Max Wenders. He coached Kenin for a short time before she rehired her father.

Max was barred from professional tennis for 12 years after pleading guilty to a series of match-fixing offenses.
