Seth Davis dad Lanny Davis is a former spokesperson for the White House from 1996 to 1998. Lanny looked after the legal matters of then-President Bill Clinton.

The award-winning senior writer of The Athletic hails from a highly educated family in Maryland. 

Besides being a sports writer, he also works as a college basketball reporter for CBS Sports and an analyst for the NBA Draft on NBA TV.

He is also the author of the 2014 book "Wooden: A Coach's Life." His recent publication is the 2023 book, "Sister Jean: Wake Up with Purpose! What I've Learned During My First Hundred Years."

Seth is best known for his time with Sports Illustrated, where he was fired in 2017. Likewise, he hosted The Seth Davis Show in 2013 for four seasons.

Seth Davis was born to his parents, Lanny Davis and Elaine Charney. He was born on April 16, 1970, in Connecticut.

He grew up in Potomac, Maryland, and attended Bullis School. Lany and Elaine are divorced and have moved on from their marriage.

Both remarried and are living happily with their new partners. Meanwhile, the former couple is busy looking after their respective businesses.

Father Lanny Davis Is A Law Consultant

Lanny Davis has co-founded and partnered with Davis Goldberg & Galper PLLC and Trident DMG since April 2016. The veteran law expert also looks after Lanny J. Davis & Associates as its founder as of 2010.

He is an experienced legal crisis lawyer and political operative as a member of the Democratic Party.

Davis senior also wrote "Truth to Tell: Tell It Early, Tell It All, Tell It Yourself: Notes from My White House Education" in 1999. His other book, "Scandal: How "Gotcha" Politics Is Destroying America" was published in 2006.

Lanny was a part of Purple Nation Solutions as its founder and partner from 2012 to 2014. He then served as the Executive Vice President of LEVICK from 2014 to 2016, per his LinkedIn.

Apart from his work hours, the elderly Davis was a frequent speaker on radio shows, including "America's Morning News Radio Show," "WMAL's Mornings on the Mall," "Andy Parks Live" and "KSRO's The Drive with Steve Jaxon."

Moreover, his participation in D.C.'s Funniest Celebrity competition in 2011 was a big surprise to all. 

Besides his impressive work portfolio, Lanny taught Seth to play piano and to respect those who disagree with him. The father-son duo shares many similarities, including their favorite movie, "All the President's Men."

Mother Elaine Charney Beat Cancer Twice

Elaine Charney is the former wife of the Washington, D.C., lobbyist Lanny. They have two kids, Seth and Marlo Sims, from their time together.

Sister Marlo studied at Tulane University and is Joint Venture Partner Manager at MarketPro Homebuyers in Rockville.

Lanny is currently married to Carolyn Atwell. Meanwhile, Elaine married her current husband, Nevin Gibson, on April 19, 2011.

The Gibson couple founded Renewed Living: Extraordinary Health, Extraordinary Life. Their products aim to give consumers a healthy lifestyle to the point of beating many life-threatening health conditions.

Elaine overcame stage IV cancer without traditional treatments. She was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2001 and beat it twice with natural remedies.

Seth's mother has been named one of the 10 Most Inspirational Natural Cancer Survivors by Extreme Health Radio and a Cure 2 Cancer Conference speaker. She is also a contributing author of the 2015 book, "Don’t Waste My Cancer" by Gayela Bynum.

Mrs. Gibson now works as an Extraordinary Health Coach and Disease Prevention Expert. Elaine goes by her alias as the Green Juice Loving Grandmother on Facebook.

She is a graduate of the University of Miami and George Washington University in her lifetime. She and Nevine currently live in Front Royal, Virginia.

Seth Davis is married to wife Melissa Cohen Davis, a Connecticut native. She graduated from Danbury High School and grew up there.

Melissa later studied Psychology at Lafayette College. She hails from an affluent political background, similar to Seth.

Mrs. Davis is active on Facebook and strictly devoted to her kids and household. The couple previously lived in Ridgefield for a long time before moving to Manhattan Beach, California.

Seth traveled a lot during the playing season in Connecticut, but they now live together. Melissa used to drive her husband to local games for work back then.

The CBS analyst has openly said that his wife has been a lifelong support for his career. 

Meanwhile, she now shares her charity ventures, where she donates to fundraising on Facebook.

Seth Davis Children

Seth Davis and Melissa have three children, all sons named Zachary Davis, Noah Davis and Gabriel Davis. Zachary is the eldest while Gabe is the youngest.

The little Davis boys are all teenagers as of 2023.

They are aware of their father's work and have grown up playing basketball and soccer, along with being avid sports watchers.

The Davis couple's eldest son is Zachary Davis born in 2005. He played soccer with his local team, the Dynamo, at just 5.

Seth coached the team filled with young kindergarteners. In his May 2020 tweet, Seth suggested that his eldest son watch "The Silent Patient."

Coming into 2023, Zachary is a grown teenager ready to attend Texas college.

He often flew around the U.S. to watch games with his mom Melissa. The young lad handled traveling well back in the day on air and long roadway trips.

Zachary played at the Ridgefield Rec Center, the usual sport for his games and practice. During Seth's interview about work and family with Connecticut Post in 2010, he was present on the ground and roamed around the playground.

Noah Davis

Noah Davis is the middle child and an equally soccer-loving person. He played around the same ground with his elder brother and practiced the game.

He is a year younger than Zach. When he was four, the little man agreed that only James LeBron was stronger than his dad in an interview.

Noah and his mom and elder brother keep themselves busy with their home life and studies. However, in 2019, Seth convinced him to skip a school day to be at Allen Fieldhouse to make some significant life memories.

Gabriel Davis

Gabriel Davis is the youngest member of the Ridgefield-based Davis clan. He was born in December 2009.

Meanwhile, his two elder brothers were born during the off-season, making it easier for Seth to stay with Melissa and look after them.

Due to the time difference, Seth could not be with his newly-born and his wife during the big moment.

However, whenever he returned, he made sure to drop off his sons at school, play sports with them, and teach them to ride bicycles. Gabriel is currently in middle school, while Noah is a senior.
