NBA players that went to Oak Hill are Cam Thomas, Kevin Durant, Caleb Martin and Michael Beasley. Durant spent one season at the academy in 2004.

1. Kevin Durant - Phoenix Suns

Kevin Durant is one of the most decorated NBA players from Oak Hill Academy. Durant attended Oak Hill Academy for his junior year of high school.

During his one-year stay at the institution, the 6-foot-10 athlete rose to be one of the top young prospects in school basketball.

Besides, Kevin was already a highly-touted recruit coming out of the National Christian Academy in Fort Washington. He led the Oak Hill Academy Warriors to the 2004 Les Schwab Invitational Finals.

After his year at Oak Hill, Durant reallocated to Montrose Christian School in Rockville for his final year. Durant was named the Naismith Prep Player of the Year and the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Later in the 2007 NBA Draft, the Seattle SuperSonics came for him and selected KD as the second overall pick.

2. Cam Thomas - Brooklyn Nets

Cam Thomas is the 2019 Oak Hill Academy alumni who currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA. Thomas played college basketball at LSU.

Thomas started his basketball journey at Oscar F. Smith High School in Chesapeake. However, during his junior year, he made the move to Oak Hill Academy, where he teamed up with Cole Anthony.

During the 2019 Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, he achieved an impressive average of 26.2 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game, earning him the Offensive Player of the Year title.

During his senior year at Oak Hill, Thomas scored an average of 31.5 points, grabbed six rebounds, and made 3.4 assists per game, becoming the program's highest-scoring player and was chosen to play in the prestigious Jordan Brand Classic.

3. Michael Beasley - Shanghai Sharks

Michael Beasley is among the talented NBA players from Oak Hill Academy Warriors. Beasley went to the school for his junior season in 2005.

The Maryland native was a top recruit coming out of high school, and he was expected to be a star at Oak Hill. However, he bumbled to adapt to the school's rigid rules and demanding academic workload.

Although Beasley's journey at Oak Hill was a shaky one, it ultimately helped him evolve into one of the country's top high school basketball players.

He averaged 20.1 points, 4.5 blocks, and  10.3 rebounds per game for the Warriors in the 2005-06 campaign before joining Notre Dame Prep.

In 2008, Beasley entered the NBA draft and Miami Heat recruited him in the first round. He now plays for the Shanghai Sharks in China.

4. Cole Anthony - Orlando Magic

Cole Anthony is the 2020 Orlando Magic NBA draftee who played plays for Oak Hill during high school. Anthony 

Anthony made an announcement in July 2018, stating his decision to transfer to Oak Hill Academy for his final year of high school. He previously played for Archbishop Molloy High School in New York.

The 6-foot-3 point guard guided Oak Hill to the semifinals of the GEICO High School Nationals. His average of 18.5 points, 10.2 assists, and 10.2 REB per game led the team to a 31–5 record.

Besides, he also became the first player in school history to average a triple-double. Anthony was honored with Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year for his outstanding basketball and academic achievements.

5. Caleb Martin - Miami Heat

Caleb Martin went to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia for his high school senior year. Martin did not get selected in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The 27-year-old forward, currently in a contract with the 2022-23 NBA Finalist Miami Heat, played alongside his twin brother Cody Martin at the Oak Hill Warriors.

Before Caleb and his sibling joined Oak Hill, they played at Davie County High School in Mocksville for three seasons. During his freshman year of high school, Caleb also participated in football.

Later Martin committed to play at North Carolina State University and Nevada Wolf Pack in NCAA tournament.

Despite going undrafted, Caleb got a shot in NBA with the Charlotte Hornets. In July 2019, he joined the team as a two-way contract player.

6. Josh Reaves - Rio Grande Valley Vipers

Josh Reaves is an Oak hill academy basketball alumni who played for the Dallas Mavericks in NBA. Reaves played his first NBA game with Dallas in January 2020.

The Fairfax, Virginia, homegrown played junior basketball for Paul VI Catholic High School before making a move to Oak Hill for his senior season. 

In just one season, Reaves became the captain of the Oak Hill team. They had an outstanding record of 47 wins and only 1 loss, earning them a remarkable seventh place in the national rankings by MaxPreps.

Afterwards, Josh attended the Pennsylvania State University to play for the Penn State Nittany Lions. He won the National Invitation Tournament with Penn State and was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.

7. Keldon Johnson - San Antonio Spurs

Keldon Johnson is a former Oak Hill Academy player currently playing for the Austin Spurs. San Antonia picked Johnson in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Johnson first attended Park View High School in South Hill, Virginia. Then he decided to enroll at Oak Hill Academy for his senior year. The shooting guard committed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats for a season in 2018-19 before entering the NBA draft.

Besides he also played for the US National basketball team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and won the gold medal for the team.

After signing with the Spurs in 2019, Johnson was sent to play for the Austin Spurs, San Antonio's NBA G League affiliate team.

8. Keyontae Johnson - Oklahoma City Thunder

Keyontae Johnson is a small forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder who previously played for Oak Hill Academy.

Johnson initially went to Norview High School. But later, he moved to Florida and joined IMG Academy in Bradenton for a year. After that, he changed schools again and went to Oak Hill Academy.

He had impressive performances, scoring at least 18 points in 19 of Oak Hill's matches. He caught the attention of sports analysts and was rated as a four-star rookie by 247Sports and ESPN.

After high school, Johnson made a commitment to play college basketball for Florida in 2018 and for Kansas State in 2022.

Johnson officially announced for the NBA Draft and was picked by the City Thunder. He is on a 2-way contract and plays for the G League affiliate Oklahoma City Blue.

9. Rajon Rondo - Cleveland Cavaliers

Rajon Rondo is a celebrated basketball player and alumnus of Oak Hill Academy. Rondo has won the NBA championship two times.

After his junior basketball stints at Lousiville Easter High, he joined Oak Hill, where he spent his senior season averaging an impressive 21.0 points and 12.0 assists per game.

His 55 points in a game stands a record as the second-highest scoring game ever recorded in Oak Hill Academy's history.

By the time he left Oak Hill, Rondo had topped the all-time single-season assists chart, surpassing McInnis, with an impressive 494 assists.

Moreover, his first taste of NBA success came when he secured his first championship title with the Boston Celtics in 2008. In 2020, Rajon once again emerged triumphant winning his second NBA trophy, this time with the Lakers.

10. Ben McLemore - AEK Athens

Ben McLemore is a former NBA player currently playing for the Greek Basket League side AEK Athens. McLemore graduated from Oak Hill in 2011.

The 6-foot-3 shooting guard commenced his basketball journey with the Wellston High School but later moved to Oak Hill in 2010, where he played for a season.

Furthermore, in his final year of high school, McLemore decided to switch schools again and enrolled at Christian Life Center.

Considered a 4-star prospect by Rivals.com, Ben chose to join the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team after finishing high school.

McLemore has been part of some of the best teams in the NBA, like the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, and Houston Rockets. He agreed to sign for AEK Athens in August 2023.
