This incredible display came just a day after Ty Floyd's outstanding pitching for LSU, where he struck out 17 players in their narrow 4-3 victory in Game 1.

Florida Gator's 24 runs is the most runs scored in College World Series by any team. Gators also became the first team to score 20+ runs in a single game since 1998 when Souther California scored 21 runs in a 24-14 win over Arizona.

Prior to the Florida-LSU game 2, the record for most runs was co-held by Notre Dame and Arizona State. The Fighting Irish was the first-ever team in CWS to record 23 runs in a game when they thrashed Northern Colorado State 23-2 on June 9, 1957.

The unachievable record remained untouched for 27 years until the Sun Devils tied the tally when they faced Oklahoma in June 1984. Arizona came victorious in a high-scoring back-and-forth contest with a score of 23-12.

Besides, Arizona scored past 20 runs against Northern Colorado in June 1955. It was a one-sided match as Colorado was totally helpless and could not manage a single run as the game read 20-0 at the end.

Furthermore, the University of Southern California baseball team, the USC Trojans, hit 21 runs in a college world series game against Arizona in 1998. Three years later, Miami tied the score of 21 runs as they defeated Tennessee on June 9, 2001.

The victim of Flordia's 24 runs, LSU Tigers had suffered a similar massive marginal defeat back in 1994 when the Cal State Fullerton Titans registered a 20-6 win against the Tigers.

Highest Scoring College Baseball Game

The highest scoring College World Series game was between Arizona State and Oklahoma in 1984. The thrilling contest ended in a total of 35 runs (23-12).

After 27 wins and losses in the regular season, Arizona finished at the top of the Pacific-10 Conference league rankings in 1984, also clinching the division title.

In the first CWS game, the Sun Devils went head-to-head with the Miami Hurricanes. In a tight contest, Arizona managed to come out on top, defeating Miami with a score of 9-6.

Then on June 5, 1984, Arizona faced off against Oklahoma State at the Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha. They reached the final four of the world series but, in the process, marked the game in the CWS annals as the highest-scoring contest.

Southern California went on to win the NCAA Division I baseball trophy despite being on the verge of getting knocked out in the first round of the College World Series.

In the semifinals, they got their revenge against LSU and advanced to face Arizona State in the finals. Arizona State had a comfortable win against Long Beach State.

After an intense play, Southern California was crowned the 1998 CWS champion as they humiliated Arizona with a scoreline of 21-14.

Additionally, the nail-biting contest between Miami and Tennessee also makes the list of high-scoring college baseball games.

The Tennessee Volunteers were featured in another high-scoring game in the same CWS season. Following the defeat at the hand of Miami, they faced Georgia Bulldogs, which ended 19-12 in Tennessee's favor.

Unfortunately, their successful run came to a halt once more against Miami in the semifinals, resulting in a 6-12 loss.

Not only did Florida set the record for the most runs in the NCAA baseball tournaments, but it also set a new bar in the College World Series Finals. The record was previously held by Southern California when they beat Arizona, scoring 21 runs in the championship game in 1998.

On the other hand, Florida's dominant win leading up to the June 26 championship match broke a record for the biggest difference in score ever seen in the Men's College World Series finals.

They won by a whopping 20 runs, which is now tied for the second-largest margin in any MCWS game. The margin could have been even bigger if the Gators had decided to go for another two points after scoring their third touchdown.

Additionally, Wake Forest also had a decent season, despite missing out on the championship game. The Demon Deacons became just the second team to achieve the feat of winning win four NCAA Tournament games with a margin of victory of 10 or more runs. The only other team was LSU in 1997.

Furthermore, their impressive run differential of +59 (scoring 75 runs while only conceding 16) is the highest ever recorded going into the Men's College World Series in Omaha.
