Jalen Brunson was born to parents Sandra Bruson and Rick Bruson on 31 August 1996. Sandra played volleyball at Temple University.
Jalen followed in his dad's footsteps to become a basketball player. Rick played for the Owls men's basketball team and spent nine seasons in NBA.
Brunson played college football for Villanova University and won two national championships. He currently plays for the New York Knicks of the NBA.

Rick Brunson is a basketball coach for the New York Knicks and a former player.
He played college basketball for the Temple Owls and spent nine seasons in the NBA. He worked as an assistant coach with Denver Nuggets in 2007.
Brunson joined the Hartford Hawks men's basketball coaching staff in May 2009. He worked as Mike Dunlap's assistant coach for the Charlotte Bobcats during the 2012–13 season.
Then from 2016 to 2018, he worked as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was a coach at Camden High School in Camden, New Jersey.
