Bowling Green Football Head Coach is Scot Loeffler who played as a quarterback at his time and takes charge of the Division I FBS team.

Bowling Green University is one of the top universities located in Bowling Green Ohio. As it provides one of the best education and 111-year-old public universities having the chance of becoming its football team's coach is a good achievement.

As every coach's journey starts from the bottom level before going on to be the leading coach, his journey is also no different. Prior to starting his career as a head coach of Bowling Green, he trained Boston College as an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach.

For his hard work as an offensive coordinator, he received praise. Additionally, he worked as the offensive coordinator at Virginia Tech from 2013 to 2015 and at Auburn University from 2012 to 2013. Since he was a quarterback in his playing days, he worked as a quarterback coach for almost a decade.

He was announced as the head coach of Bowling Green State University in November 2018. When he took over, his main priorities were to improve the team's performance and reestablish its Mid-American Conference competitiveness.

Top quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Brian Griese, Drew Henson, Logan Thomas, and a few other players have been coached by Loeffler. All of them went on to become NFL. So, it clearly shows what a good coach he is.

Scot Loeffler replaced Mike Jinks as the head coach and is now in his 5th stint on the team. The improvement is seen pretty much clearly as he transformed the team for the first time since 2015 into bowl-eligible.

Loeffler is currently under contract through 2025. His base compensation for this year, 2024, and 2025 will be $560,000, $580,000, and $600,000 respectively. With a record of 6-7 (5-3 MAC) in 2022, Bowling had its finest year under the head coach and qualified for the Quick Lane Bowl.

All the coaching members work under the head coach Scot Loeffler as he is in charge of the whole team. The head coach is liable for picking up the players on the matchday, formulating and creating strategies, and managing the assistant coaches as well. He has the authority to decide most of the conclusions.

The coaches must develop the athletes' talents and abilities. To assist players in performing to their maximum capacity, they focus on enhancing each player's techniques, physical fitness, and mental preparedness.

To increase the chances of the team's success, they develop game plans and strategies. This involves play-calling, offensive and defensive strategy, and modifications based on the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition.

Players like quarterbacks, running backs, linebackers, or defensive backs are just a few examples of the numerous positions different coaches frequently specialize in. With this specialization, players can get specialized coaching and guidance for their particular positions.

Having previously worked together at the Boston College they upgraded their positions as well.

Similarly, Beyah Rasool and Brian White both are the Assistant coach of the team. Along with that role Rasool is also the Cornerbacks coach and Special Teams Assistant while White is a Running Backs coach as well.

Kevin Tolbert who is the performance coach is one of the very important staff in the team as he deals with maximizing the players' athletic and physical development, making sure they are in top shape to perform at their very best on the field.

Ian Samuelson also works together with Tolbert as a performance coach, as they both create and put into action comprehensive training plans to enhance players' physical fitness overall, strength, speed, endurance, and agility.

Bowling Green Offensive Coordinators

Bowling Green Offensive Coordinators are Greg Nosal and Max Warner. They also have other roles as they look after the offensive line and quarterbacks too.

For the 2023 season, Nosal will also serve as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator. Warner is in charge of training the team's quarterbacks in the meantime.

Nosal worked as an offensive analyst before joining the Bowling Green coaching staff in 2020. He was initially appointed to train the running backs, but in 2021 and 2022 he also worked with the team's tight ends. He started his coaching career with the Hokies in 2013 and is a Virginia Tech alum. He played for the Hurricanes for 3 seasons as well.

Prior to the 2022 college football season, Warner, who joined the team as the QB coach in 2019, his position was upgraded to co-offensive coordinator. He was given his first coaching position at Lakeland College working with the CBs. He has also spent time in high school and college as a trainer.

In 2015, Nosal and Warner both worked together for Virginia Tech but in different roles, as they have known each other since then.

The MAC's fourth-ranked passing attack large credit goes to Nosal and Warner in their first season as co-offensive coordinators. By scoring more than 2 points per game in 2022 compared to the CFB season of 2021, Bowling Green increased their ranking in the league for both total offense and scoring offense.

Hence, the offense's play-calling is done by the offensive coordinator. They choose the plays and formations they wish to use. They construct the system they wish to employ in conjunction with the quarterback of the team.

Bowling Green Defensive Coordinators

Bowling Green Defensive Coordinators are Steve Morrison and Sammy Lawanson. Their primary role is to look after the Inside and Outside linebackers.

Morrison is the inside linebacker and Lawanson is the outside linebacker Bowling Green coaches.

Morrison became the ILBs coach and associate head coach at Bowling Green in 2019. His coaching career has been intrinsically linked to the state as a former All-Big Ten linebacker with Michigan, working as an assistant with the Wolverines before spending 5 years at Western Michigan and 2 years at Eastern Michigan.

Lawanson's position was upgraded to co-defensive coordinator at Bowling after just 1 season as the outside linebackers coach. After 2 seasons as the Northern Arizona OLBs coach, he moved to Ohio. He has started from scratch coming from high schools to power 5 to the group of 5 and even the XFl levels he is where he is now because of his hard work.

It is the job of the defensive coordinator to research, evaluate, and pinpoint the opponent's offense strengths, and weaknesses. To counterbalance the opponent's attacking plays, they develop a game plan that consists of a variety of defensive plans and tactics.

They make crucial choices on the defensive plays to be called in various circumstances. Whether it's halting a running play or defending against a throw, they must foresee the opponent's moves and select the appropriate plays to counter them.

Since every opponent is unique, they must be quick to change their tactics to take advantage of each one's weaknesses. During a game, coordinators must act quickly and make changes in response to what they observe on the field.

The defensive call during a game is made by Morrison but of course, takes suggestions from Lawanson and his other coaching staff.
