Andre Carter II was born to dad Andre Carter Sr and Melissa Carter. Andre Sr is a former lawyer from Chicago running a Pizza Franchise.

The famed outside linebacker of the Army Black Knights is set to be drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. A provision in the Omnibus Appropriations Measure has granted him a chance to play professionally before serving his military duties.

Andre was the all-time single-season Army sack leader in 2021. His success in the NCAA Division I level leads toward an NFL career while he will still serve his compulsory service in the Army after his professional football stint.

The 6 ft 7 inches OLB is best known for playing at the 2020 Liberty Bowl and 2021 Armed Forces Bowl with the Knights.

Andre Sr Is A Former Athlete

Andre Carter II father Andre Carter Sr is an avid football fan. He is originally from Chicago but has moved around the U.S.

He welcomed his NFL prospect son in Missouri City, Texas, while he brought him up in California. Meanwhile, the Carters are based in New York as of 2023.

Andre's father is a retired airline employee who now works as a pizza and check-cashing franchisee. He is also a former athlete during his student days.

Dad Andre passed down his athletic genes and his love for football to his children by watching NFL games on Sunday afternoons. Since he is a big fan of the Chicago Bears, Carter II grew up watching and being inspired by Brian Urlacher, Julius Peppers, and Khalil Mack.

The senior Carter calls his son Little Dre, or Dre for short. Dad Andre is concerned yet equally motivated for his son's football career, hence; he openly talks about his son's struggle in the past.

Dre's high stature and lean size made it hard for him to be a defensive player, but his father's support helped him a lot in his journey.

Andre Carter II was helped by his mother, Melissa Carter, to move to New England to play for Cheshire Academy.

Both Andre Carter II parents Andre Sr and Melissa were athletes in college.

He had failed to make it to the Division I schools during his time at Houston High School. Hence, he moved to Western Christian High School for his senior year, but the results were far from satisfactory.

Melissa used her legal research skills and looked for another option to land at Cheshire.

He completed a postgraduate year at the academy and joined the United States Military Academy in West Point for college.

Melissa was confident that she nurtured the skills Dre needed to be successful anywhere he went. Moreover, her view of West Point as the best place due to its smart leadership caught the attention of Army Rivals.

She described her son as a healthy, resilient, and adaptable young man who is quite soft-spoken and away from making fuss about anything. Moreover, momma Carter revealed that Andre had been an obedient kid until he decided to take football as a main-go in life.

Andre hails from a mixed-race community since his dad is African-American while his mom is a native American.

Andre Carter II hails from a big family, including his parents and four siblings. He grew up in Missouri City, Texas, before moving to New York.

The Army OLB is the youngest among his siblings. His relatives have been at his games since he started playing little league football at five.

Besides Andre Sr. and Melissa, Dre is equally motivated by his grandmother, Mary Lou Early, and his grandfather Don A. Early. His grandpa passed away in August 2022.

Their presence at his game site is one of the motivating factors for him to perform the best.

Moreover, his aunt's friends were also present at the Senior Bowl to cheer for him while he played. Little Dre's connection to his extended relatives is another impressive trait.

Within the 2023 NFL Draft, he is one of the first-round picks for the teams. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old has called this opportunity grateful though he hopes to return to the U.S. Army to serve his duty.
