Tomas Kaberle wife Julia Kaberle is the owner of the Quanto Basta restaurant in Toronto. Tomas is a former ice hockey player for Maple Leafs.

Tomas is a retired defenceman from the Czech Republic who enjoyed an illustrious career spanning more than 15 years in the NHL. He played 984 games, scoring 87 goals and registering 476 assists. 

Toronto Maple Leafs first selected Kaberle in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft as the 204th overall pick. He is the second-highest-scoring defenceman in the club's history, behind the legendary Borje Salming

He played his first match in the league during the 1998/99 season and went on to play 12 seasons for the Maple Leafs before he was traded to the Boston Bruins in 2011. 

The 6 feet 1-inch tall D-men later represented Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens after winning the Stanley Cup with Boston. Apart from NHL, he played for Czech clubs HC Kaldno and HC Kometa Brno. 

His other notable accolades include winning a gold medal for the Czech Republic at the 2005 World Ice Hockey Championships, a silver medal at the 2006 Championships, and a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Tomas Kaberle has been happily married to Julia Mele for over a decade. They share a strong bond, love, and compassion for each other. 

After initially meeting in the last 2010, they fell in love and started to date. The glaring couple later walked down the aisle and exchanged vows before their close family friends and acquaintances. 

Although they hail from different countries, Tomas from the Czech Republic and Julia from Canada, their diverse nationality have helped to strengthen their budding relationship further.

Tomas Ex-Wife Ilona Kaberle

Tomas was previously married to Ilona, his school friend. They went to high school together and knew each other from the very early days.

Their friendship turned into love as time passed by. After staying in a close relationship and dating for around 7 years, their grand wedding ceremony occurred in the summer of 2002 at the Lány chateau, Kladno.

However, things didn't go as expected over the long run between the pair. Kaberle officially divorced Ilona in 2010, as they put an end to their alliance in complete silence.

Julia Owns Quanto Basta Restaurant

Julia was born on 13 December 1981 and grew up with her parents and sister Daniela in her hometown, Canada.

She graduated from Holy Cross Catholic High School in 1999, according to her Facebook bio. Mele later went to York University in Toronto for her higher studies and passed out in 2004.

Julia Kaberle is currently the co-owner of an Italian restaurant named Quanto Basta in Toronto. She inaugurated this restaurant in partnership with sister Daniela back in December 2016. They invited close friends and kinsfolk to the opening ceremony, as seen from Instagram photos.

The restaurant reached the heights of popularity during the COVID pandemic. People were utterly stunned when Tomas appeared on their doorsteps with their food orders from the restaurant.

With the virus outbreak and lockdown in place, Julia asked the former Stanley Cup champion to help her with the food delivery. It was instantly all over the internet and people started placing their orders saying, 'Can Tomas please bring them to us?'

Kaberle has three kids; a son named Luka and two daughters Mikela and Alexsandra. Luka is the older one whereas Alex is the youngest.

Tomas became a father for the first time when Julia gave birth to their elder son Luka Kaberle on March 14, 2012. The love and passion for the game are inherited by Luka from his old folks as well.

He started playing around with the hockey stick as soon as he could walk. While playing for the U10 North York Rangers, Luka guided the team to the title of Silver Stick Champions on November 29, 2021.

The aspiring boy also won the big tournament a couple of years early, representing North Toronto Hockey, as Tomas shared the news as a proud dad via his Instagram account. If early signs are to go by, it might only be a matter of time before we see Luka on the NHL scene. 

Tomas Kaberle Daughters 

Tomas's second child Mikela was born on August 27, 2013. Likewise, the Kaberle pair welcomed their younger daughter on August 30, 2019.

The record-breaking NHL defenseman relishes the joy of fatherhood. He never misses out on wishing their birthdays on social media platforms and often ensures that the little girls have a memorable birthday to savor for a long time.

Tomas Kaberle Comes From Athletic Family

Kaberle was born to parents Ludmila and Frantisek Sr. on March 2, 1978. Although his birth took place in Rakovnik, he spent the majority of his childhood in Velka Dobra, Kladno.

He grew up watching his dad playing ice hockey for the national team. The inspiration was always there for Tomas to follow in his old man's footsteps and pursue a professional career in the sport. 

The former defenceman is very vocal about the endless love, support, and motivation of his parents in not just his phenomenal playing career but life as a whole. He remains thankful to them for whatever he has achieved to date.

Frantisek Kaberle Won Championship Titles  

Kaberle Sr. was born on 6 August, 1951 in Kladno, Czechoslovakia. He studied electrical technology at a technical school.

Frantisek was fascinated by sports from a very early age as he started ice staking at six years old and played soccer. 

By the age of 17, he set his complete focus on playing hockey. Toma's father played for HC Kladno for most of his career and won five Czechoslovak Extraliga Championships.

Frantisek Sr. was a regular member of the Czechoslovakia national team throughout the mid-1970s to early 1908s. The former defenceman was vital in guiding the team to two World Championship titles in 1976 and 1976.

Apart from that, he also played at the 1980 Winter Olympics. He took over the coaching role, trained youths in Kladno, and also worked as a club secretary after retiring from an active playing career in 1983. 

Frank Kaberle Played in NHL

Tomas Kaberle older brother Frank Kaberle was also a professional ice hockey player who thrived as a defenceman. 

Frank was born on November 8, 1793 as the first child of the clan. He relished a successful career spanning over 20 seasons across NHL and ELH. 

He was the 76th overall pick for Los Angeles Kings in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Since making his debut in the same season, he has played 523 games throughout his NHL career.

Frantisek Jr. scored 29 goals and registered 164 assists while representing Kings, Atlanta Thrashers and Carolina Hurricanes across ten consecutive seasons in the National Hockey League.  

Winning Ice Hockey World Championships five times in 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2005 with the national team ranks right at the top of his phenomenal achievements. 

Kaberle siblings Tomas and Frantisek were teammates at the national team when they won trophies in 2005 Vienna World Championship and a bronze medal in the 2006 Turin Olympics. 

The staggering combination of two elite ice-hockey brothers has prospered on and off the field.
