He was named an alternate Predator captain on September 19, 2017, along with Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg. After that, he signed a four-year contract extension worth $25 million with the team.

Mattias Ekholm Had A Wedding In 2020
Mattias intimate ceremony with Ida was held in Stensele kyrka. The couple had a modest ceremony held in June 19 that was attended by their close ones.
They exchanged their vows during the epidemic season, which explains why their wedding had restricted seating. The photographs posted by Ida depict the pair exchanging vows in Stensele Church, one of the largest wooden churches in Sweden.
Also, the bride looked beautiful in her netted dress with a long veil, and the groom looked amazing in his tuxedo with a bow tie and well-groomed hair and beard.
How They Met?
Ekholm and Ida met through an initiative called "Give to sports," which aimed to collect sports equipment for underprivileged youth. Mattias donated equipment to the cause, and that's how they first got acquainted.
Although they knew each other for almost two and a half years, their relationship started as a platonic friendship, and it took them another year to realize their feelings for each other.
Despite the initial obstacles, they eventually started dating and are now happily together.
