Matthew Tkachuk dad Keith Tkachuk is a former ice hockey player who played 18 years in the NHL. Matthew grew up in Scottsdale Arizona.

Born in 1997, the 25-year-old winger is the substitute captain for the NHL side, Florida Panthers. 

Tkachuk is a very similar player to his father, Keith, with great physical attributes and who is not afraid to mix it up. Matthew has been named to the NHL All-Star team twice and won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 2017.

Following Keith's footsteps, he and his younger brother Brady Tkachuk have outstandingly emulated their old man's achievements.

While there, Keith met the love of his life, Chantal, from Winnipeg. One day Oster found herself at one of Keith's games, where a captivating moment unfolded. Their gaze met, and in that instant, a deep connection formed within their hearts.

Keith and Chantal tied the knot in their early twenties and moved to Arizona in 1996. Soon after settling down, they wasted no time in starting a family.

Keith Tkachuk Played For Phoenix Coyotes

Keith played for four NHL franchises including the Phoenix Coyotes and St. Louis Blues.

Born in Melrose, Massachusetts, on January 29, 1967. Keith had a long career in the National League that spanned two decades, from 1992 to 2010.

Tkachuk made his NHL debut with the Jets in 1991 and promptly became one of the league's top scorers. Later he was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes in 1996, where he helped the Coyotes reach the Stanley Cup playoffs in 1997, netting a career-best 52 goals.

The old Tkachuk is known for his physical play and his scoring ability. He was a 5-time All-Star and won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's MVP in 1997. He was also on the squad of the US national hockey team that won gold at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey.

As an elite player in NHL history, Keith finished his NHL career with 508 goals and 1,016 points in 1,201 games. Furthermore, he is among the handful of American-born players to net 500 goals and the sixth American player to score 1,000 points in over 1200 league games.

Chantal Oster

Matthew Tkachuk mom Chantal Oster runs Covenant House, which supports and assists young individuals facing homelessness.

Oster was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, and earned her graduation in business degree from the University of Manitoba. Mrs Tkachuk was working at Safeway when she met her husband Keith.

In an interview with The Athletic, Chantal revealed that despite being a business graduate, her true passion lies in architecture. If given another opportunity, she would enthusiastically pursue a career in designing buildings.

Chantal's love for architecture has been evident as she actively participated in designing their family's new home in St. Louis, which was completed just a year ago.

Matthew Tkachuk brother Brady Tkachuk is a National Hockey League player for the Ottawa Senators.

Forward Brady was selected by the Senators as the 4th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Before turning professional, Tkachuk played one season for the Boston University Terriers, earning All-Hockey East Rookie Team accolades.

Matthew Tkachuk sister Taryn Tkachuk is a talented field hockey player at the University of Virginia. Taryn was born on November 1, 2002 in Arizona. 

Chantal believes the family's youngest member, Taryn is the best athlete among his three children. They also call her LeBron because she wears the No. 23 jersey. 

Taryn attended Villa Duchesne school in St. Louis, where she implanted seeds of her athletic brilliance. She also played briefly for the Oak Hill School.

Throughout her four years of playing, Taryn consistently outshone her peers, leading all high school players in the state of Missouri in both total points and goals. The 20-year-old topped the state's assist charts twice during her high school career.

One particular season stood out for Taryn and her team at Villa Duchesne. She displayed her immense talent by leading Missouri in scoring at the varsity level, amassing an impressive 31 goals, 32 assists, and 94 points, and winning the state championship.

Matthew Tkachuk Family Life Growing Up

Tkachuk grew up with his family in the Phoenix outskirts of Scottsdale, Arizona. 

After Keith transferred to the St. Louis Blues in 2001, the clan relocated to Chesterfield, Missouri where Matthew spent the rest of his early years.
