PGA Golfers From North Carolina

Born on October 14, 1962, Neal Lancaster grew up in Smithfield, North Carolina, and is one of the best North Carolina Golfer ever. In 1984 he turned professional and competed on the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour. 

Lancaster has had a good run since turning pro and secured some significant wins. One of those wins was his only win at the Byron Nelson Golf Classic in 1994.

He participated in his first Champions Tour competition after turning 50 years of age in October 2012 at the SAS Championship.  When the tour was at Q school, he got a T8.

Once he stopped being a professional tour player he became a PGA professional and started competing in events sanctioned through the Carolinas section of the PGA. Although it took him 5 years, in 2017, he won the Carolinas PGA Senior Professional Championship. 

Even though he could never secure a victory in one of the major championships, he did compete in them. Some notable showcases were The Masters, the U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and the PGA Championship.

As a member of the American teams in both the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup, Simpson has also been a useful asset for the United States. 

Hadley began his career in 2010. In 2013, he participated in the Web dot com Tour, and in June, at the Rex Hospital Open, he achieved his maiden tour victory. He earned a 2014 PGA Tour invitation by placing third on the regular season money list on the Web dot com Tour in 2013.

Hadley's first PGA Tour victory came on March 9, 2014, when he triumphed in the Puerto Rico Open at the Trump International course by two strokes.

He had a ranking of 49 in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and finished ninth in the Deutsche Bank Championship. He was also recognized as the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.

By 4 strokes going into the final round of the Palmetto Championship in June 2021, Hadley was in the lead. He ultimately shot 75 and lost to Higgo by just 1 stroke after bogeying his final 3 holes of the day. 6 individuals tied for second place, including Hadley.

In the FedEx Cup standings, he finished the season in the 125th and final fully exempt spot.

American professional golfer Kyle Reifers has competed on the PGA Tour since 2011. In his professional career, he has won three matches, one of which was on the Nationwide Tour.

In 2006, he went pro and started competing on the Nationwide Tour. In 2007, he triumphed in his first professional competition, the Tarheel Tour Open. In order to qualify for the PGA Tour the following year, he had to finish sixth on the Nationwide Tour money list in 2010.

Reifers debuted on the PGA Tour in 2011. At the Puerto Rico Open in 2012, he finished in the top 10 for the first time. He tied for second place at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2013.

At the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship, He claimed victory in his first PGA Tour contest. He won by outlasting Cantlay and Rory McIlroy in a playoff. His second PGA Tour victory came in 2020 at The Greenbrier's A Military Tribute.

He has also participated in a number of important competitions. Both the US Open and the Professional Golf Association Championship have seen him make the cut five times each. In 2019, he tied for 15th in the US Open for his best major result.

Since 2007, Johnson Wagner has competed on the PGA Tour. In his professional career, he has won three tournaments, all on the PGA Tour.

He became a professional in 2002, and from 2003 to 2006, he participated in the Nationwide Tour. He qualified for the PGA Tour for the 2007 season by placing second on the Nationwide Tour's money list in 2006.

Wagner won the 2008 Shell Houston Open for his first PGA Tour triumph. He received a two-year Tour exemption and a Masters Tournament invitation as a result of his victory.

Since then, he has won two additional PGA Tour competitions: the 2018 Sony Open in Hawaii and the 2016 FedEx St. Jude Classic.

He additionally took part in a number of important championships. He has qualified for the round of 16 at the PGA Championship four times, the Open Championship four times, the US Open six times, and the Masters Tournament five times.

In 2013, he tied for tenth at the Professional Golfers' Association Championship for his best major result.

The young Indian-origin golfer Akshay Bhatia has already won a competition which is the 2023 Barracuda Championship.

In 2021, he became a professional and joined the Korn Ferry Tour. In January 2022, he triumphed in The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic, his first professional competition. His PGA Tour membership for the 2022–2023 season was secured by this victory.

In May 2022, Akshay Bhatia made his PGA Tour debut. In July 2023, he triumphed in his maiden competition, the 2023 Barracuda Championship. He won the match by defeating Patrick Rodgers in a playoff.

In his brief career, he has had a number of accomplishments, including winning a PGA Tour competition at the very young age of 21.

McGirt grew up playing baseball and golf, and institutions in North Carolina and South Carolina offered him scholarships.

After going pro in 2004, McGirt spent several years performing on mini-tours. By winning the 2009 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament and earning a spot on the 2010 Nationwide Tour, he received his first break.

At the PGA Championship in 2012, McGirt made his debut in a major tournament but failed to make the cut. Prior to his first victory at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio at age 36 in June 2016, he had 3 runner-up results. He defeated Curran in a sudden-death playoff on the 2nd hole.

He had not achieved a professional victory since his mini-tour triumph nine years prior, in 2007.

William has finished in the top 25 for more than 50 and has more than $11 million in earnings as of 2022.

From 1987 until 1996, John Samuel Inman played continuously on the PGA Tour and won 2 events.

He became a professional in 1985. He defeated Bill Glasson and Rocco Mediate by one stroke to claim his maiden victory in the 1987 Provident Classic. The 1993 Buick Southern Open 5-man playoff was when Inman earned his second victory.

At the 1990 U.S. Open, he had his best major championship performance, finishing T-14.

Inman returned to his alma mater in July 1998 to take over the men's golf program after his playing days on the tour were finished.

He made the decision to play in the Rex Hospital Open on the Nationwide Tour in 2011 after taking a break from professional golf. Until he becomes eligible to compete on the Champions Tour, the 2-time Professional Golfers Association Tour champion will play on the Nationwide Tour.

From 2001 until 2008, Tripp Isenhour competed on the PGA Tour. He had 4 Nationwide Tour victories but has not even once managed to win any PGA Tour.

His triumph at the 2000 Nationwide Tour Championship stands out as his most significant accomplishment. He was given a berth on the PGA Tour for the upcoming season because of this victory. He played on the Professional Golfers Association Tour for 8 seasons starting in 2001.

At the 2002 New Orleans Open, he tied for second place, which was his best result on the PGA Tour. At several more PGA Tour competitions, he also placed among the top Ten.

In 2008, Isenhour left the PGA Tour. He is now a golf coach after that.
