The RBI king formally announced his retirement on October 5, 2014. Post-retirement, he was the manager of the Dominican Summer League Red Sox for the 2018-019 seasons.

His Grandfather Fernando was an infielder in the Houston Astros system in the 1970s. He later worked as a coach and scout for Houston's minor leaguers.

Elijah Tatis Signed With White Sox

The 21-year-old Elijah had signed a whopping $500,000 bonus in the 2019-2020 international period with the Chicago White Sox. 

He sustained injuries to one of his hands and left foot following a minor motorcycle mishap.

Elijah underwent surgery on his left wrist that cost him much of his playing time for the season. Bad luck followed soon after, as he was suspended from the Sox for using prohibited substances.
