Caleb Swanigan, the professional American basketball player, was a 2017 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. The man had an unbelievable body weight transition on the road to becoming a fantastic athlete as a teenager.

Swanigan's journey to the NBA is a fairy tale as he went straight from a homeless obese child to transitioning into a gem in the basketball arena.

Unfortunately, at the mere age of 25, the world lost its gentle soul; on June 21, 2022, Swanigan lost his life to a natural cause.

Caleb Swanigan's Weight Transition: Loss And Gain Within A Year

Grown in an impoverished home and having an upbringing full of obstacles, Caleb lived a traumatic childhood. His obese father weighing 500 lbs fought with drug addiction for most of his adult life, eventually dying of diabetes-related complications.

According to Caleb, obesity ran in his family and it cost a lot more to eat a healthy diet. Swanigan acquired two important characteristics from his biological father, height and a proclivity for obesity.

Having five siblings, he spent his childhood in many homeless shelters and traveled between Utah and Indianapolis. This all changed in 2010 when NFL agent Roosevelt Barnes adopted him.

At this time, Caleb was 13 years old, homeless, and weighed almost 400 pounds. Roosevelt Barnes, who previously played an NFL linebacker, sensed Swanigan's immense potential and assisted him for a complete mega transition within a year.

In a span of a year, Caleb lost around 140 lbs, looking almost unrecognizable. The obese kid worked hard to lose weight and improve his conditioning without giving up, ultimately developing into one of the country's most outstanding high school basketball prospects.

Caleb Swanigan was 2.06 m (6 ft 7 inches) tall. Born on April 18, 1997, he was only 25 years old when he very recently passed away.

The guy did all the hard work to bring himself out of his distressing boyhood. Swanigan's legal guardian backed him, completely overhauling his nutrition and exercise.

He practiced for hours with additional training sessions followed by nutritional meals, which helped him shape his body at Purdue. 

Within a year, Swanigan had improved his athleticism and brought his weight down to 245 pounds from almost 400 pounds.

Beginning with his stellar high school career, Swanigan was rated one of the most prominent players in the 2015 class, known for finishing the game, excellently.

In the national class of 2015, the major sports websites, including ESPN, Rivals.com, and Scout.com, already listed him among the top prep players.

In the same spirit, the athlete had an outstanding undergraduate career at Purdue University, where he was honored as the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2017. He received other several titles leading him to the road of a successful Basketball Player.

His unfortunate death has shocked many followers and admirers of him, as the news is too sad to be true.
