Boo Buie Family Life As He Grew Up Looking Up to An Older Brother

Boo Buie was born to his dad Dan Buie on December 7, 1999, in Albany, New York. Dan stood at 6 foot-8 inches and played as a forward.

He had led his high school team to a district championship in 1991, making him a local celebrity. Major unis, including Kentucky, Duke, and Cincinnati, were in line to recruit him though he chose the other way.

Dan was later detained from the Harrisburg International Airport in October 1993 for being an unlicensed driver in a hit-and-run case and possessing an unregistered firearm.

The New York Times reported that Dan grew up as a child of separated and impoverished parents. Their absence made him choose a way of substance and violence, and he later became a supplier during his school days.

Despite the shortcomings in life, Dan stood up with the help of Terry and Lee Resnick. They helped him get admitted at Washburn and play basketball for the team.

Buie had failed to join a university as a student-athlete right after graduation as he fell short in academic points.

After his time at Washburn, he started a family with his wife, Denise Murphy. 

Boo Buie mom Denise Murphy is a native of Rutherford, Pennsylvania and currently lives in Harrisburg with her children.

Denise was previously married and had three children with her former husband, Mr. Battle. Boo's father, Dan, is her second spouse, with whom she had six kids. 

She and Dan brought up the Battle-Buie children together after marriage in the mid-1990s.

Denise goes by her maiden name, Murphy, and her previous last name, Battle. 

Mrs. Buie looked after the children at home while Dan worked three jobs during his Washburn venture. Dan was majoring in Criminal Justice as well.

Denise confirmed in a September 2022 Facebook post that she had to lose a job due to her overbearing schedule as a guardian of nine kids.

She is a big fan of traveling and going to the beaches. She went to Israel in 2016 and Camelback mountain in Arizona in June 2018. 

Besides her homely duties, she attends her kids' big sports days. Moreover, she is vocal about her opinion on her child's career choices, like she did in 2010.

Hollidaysburg Area High School coach Mick Pentoney had accused Penn State of influencing Taran to move to State College that year.

Murphy had defended that the move was a homecoming decision since Taran could meet his grandparents and aunties.

Boo Buie has eight siblings, three were born from his mother's first marriage. He grew alongside all eight of them under the watchful eyes of Dan and Denise.

His elder half-sister is Tyger Battle. She is a realtor at Coldwell Banker Realty Greater Philadelphia and Central PA.

Boo's older half-brothers are Tracey and Talor. Tracey currently works as the Director of Student Management at Adams and Associates Job Corps in Albany.

Talor Battle Is Now A Coach

Talor Battle serves as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Northwestern University. He played for the Bishop Maginn High School team.  

Afterward, he played college basketball as a point guard for the Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team from 2007 to 2011.

Battle went undrafted at the 2011 NBA draft and instead signed with the Cholet Basket in France. The same year he left the team and signed with the German team Telekom Baskets Bonn. 

Talor then played with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2012 NBA Summer League. 

Battle was a part of numerous teams, including Capo d'Orlando in Italy, Belfius Mons-Hainaut in Belgium, Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel, Atomerőmű SE in Hungary, and Union Olimpija in Slovenia from 2011 to 2017.

Battle played for Armored Athlete in ESPN's The Basketball Tournament in the 2015 and 2017 summer seasons. He decided to end his career due to consistent injuries. 

He had re-joined the Nittany Lions as an assistant coach during the 2020–2021 season. He mostly goes by his new identity Coach Battle, even on Instagram and other social media sites. 

Taran Buie Is An Athlte Turned Businessman

Taran Buie is the biological brother of Boo Buie and one of the elder siblings. Taran was one of the top 100 national swing guards as a junior.

He played as a part of the State College Little Lions. He had a close bond with the former Georgia Tech head coach Paul Hewitt.

Meanwhile, he committed to Penn State, following in the footsteps of Talor. 

However, Taran did not continue playing basketball and shifted his career to entrepreneurship. He owns Be Humbled LLC which produces the merchandise.

Taran is also an avid trekker and traveler based in Los Angeles. He prefers to roam around the beaches and swim in the water.

He is married to Keana Lofton, who is seen on each of his hiking adventures. They married on a beach in Mexico in October 2022. Both share many similarities, including their love for the ocean.

The two have a son named Atreus Ra in January 2022. The trio now hikes all over California and shares their journey on social media.

Boo Buie has a big family with eleven members, including his parents. He has a brother named Davante and two sisters named Alexis and Ashanti.

The Murphy-Battle-Buie clan also has seven grandchildren who all come together in Pennsylvania during the special ocassions

Boo is now dating his girlfriend Christy Curtin and they have been together since 2017.

Christy's Instagram @christycurtin shows pictures of their dinner dates and beach moments. The two call themselves best friends and their vacations "Baecation."

Momma Denise, and Christy usually post about each other, showing they are fond of one another.

Meanwhile, Christy only shares the photos from her good times and has kept her work life away from Boo's fans.
