Only eight weeks after being diagnosed with leukemia, Dib's first wife, Sara Selim Dib, passed away in September 2015. Due to her diagnosis, the couple's plans for a December wedding were advanced, and they were married just six weeks before Sara passed away. Nearly a year later, Dib married Sarah Shaweesh, his second wife, whom he had met through standard connections.

After additional examinations of the 5 cm tumor, the 37-year-old Australian took to social media to inform his 50,000 followers that he had also been identified as having an aggressive and uncommon form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
At the time, he said he wasn't sure whether he would need further treatment, but his heartbreaking post on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the worst. He has been identified as having an uncommon and aggressive non-Hodgkins lymphoma malignancy.
According to Dib, "Cancer is to be the hardest opponent he has faced, but he wants his followers to know that he is battling harder than ever, and God willing, He will battle this dreadful sickness."

In the early 1980s, Billy Dib's family moved to Sydney from Lebanon and opened Sabrina's Mixed Business, a corner shop.
